In 2005 transformation works on the RAC office tower in the center of Brussels were in full development. This massive building (icon of Brussel's reckless modernism) was slowly being stripped of it’s golden façade.
In “mirroring the city”, 8 glass façade panels of the building are recuperated and positioned two by two on four different sites in the city center. These golden squares of 160 cm by 160 cm in mirror glass combine a sort of noble massiveness with an almost unreal immateriality. By strategically positioning the double panes of glass in public spaces and by placing them in specific relation to each other, they transform the surrounding space, accentuating certain aspects, or bringing hidden spaces to light.
